Lecture about church history |
|
The workshop took 6 days from 8:00 in the morning to 18:00 in the evening. There were more than 60 participants. After this workshop we got several requests to organize more of these workshops. The schedule was disturbed by the Tsunami. However, we have in mind to schedule other workshop in the near future. It is our wish that the Lord will bless this work and that the Holy Spirit will work in the hearts of these people.
In Aug 2005 Wijbren Jongsma gave a lecture to church leaders about church history in the Netherlands. This lecture was held in the St John’s Church in Batticaloa.

Theology Workshops In Sept 2003 Rev Jeyanesan visited the Netherlands. On Sunday we went to the church services of Rev Sonnevelt in Veenendaal. In the evening we had a meeting with Rev Sonnevelt. Rev Jeyanesan told the day after that he was surprised about how the Gospel was preached. People were pricked in their hearts and the need for personal salvation was preached. The days after we had several discussions about the fundamentals of Christianity. In one of these discussions he told that many of his church members and several of his staff are former Hindus and are struggling with topics like: · The authority of the Bible · The value of the Old and New Testament · The difference between Jesus, Buddha and Mohammed · When are you a Christian · Etc. In that discussion the request came if we could organize a Theology Workshop about the fundamentals of Christianity for the staff of the orphan homes, the VTC and the church workers. This workshop was given in Feb 2004 by Wijbren Jongsma, board members of the Ceylon Christian Care Foundation. Wijbren is certified to teach Christianity. The topics dealt with during this workshop were: · The Authority of the Bible · The Creation · The Fall of Man and the Way God Opened a Way for Salvation · Noah · Abraham · The Ten Commandments · Jesus · The Holy Spirit · The need for Personal Salvation · Jesus versus Hinduism, Buddhism and Mohammed |
